Press Ganey White Paper Reveals Data-Driven Approach to Help Improve Workforce Engagement
BOSTON — OCT 25, 2016 –(BUSINESS WIRE)– In a white paper released today, Press Ganey identifies opportunities for health care organizations to achieve high workforce engagement and create a competitive advantage in a consumer-driven health care marketplace. The white paper, Rules of Engagement: Assessing and Addressing Employee Engagement and Readiness for Change, outlines a data-driven approach that examines trends at the work-unit level to help inform custom strategies for employee engagement and ultimately help improve key safety, quality and experience outcomes.
“Employee engagement is a barometer for the cultural health of an organization and a core tenet of patient-centered care,” said James Merlino , MD, President and CMO, Strategic Consulting , Press Ganey . “Correlations between employee engagement, safety, quality and the patient experience demonstrate that effective management of human capital must be a strategic imperative across health care organizations. Differentiating work units by tiers of engagement enables leaders to understand the needs of individual work groups and tailor improvement strategies that will help prevent harm, improve quality and advance the overall care experience.”
Research indicates that 23% of health care employees are disengaged and present a significant opportunity for organizational improvement across domains. Based on analysis from Press Ganey employee engagement data and its workforce development framework, findings from the paper will help leaders prepare low-engagement work units for improvement by:
- Identifying drivers of engagement.
- Assembling a team to assess and support unit leaders.
- Designing customized improvement training.
- Providing unit leaders with resources to succeed.
